Farmer's market make #5!
I always used to add the tiniest bit of brown sugar to my oatmeal. This time we took a really ripe banana, mashed it up, and used that as our sweetener. It was perfect and no added sugar necessary!
And yes, getting the seed out of the 🍒 was a labor of love, but worth it watching the kids enjoy this deliciously nutrient-dense farmer’s market find!
Bon Appetit!
Ingredients:
1 very ripe banana
1 cup milk (regular or non-dairy. We used plain soy)
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 Tbsp cinnamon (more or less to taste)
1/2 cup oats (gluten-free if needed)
1 Tbsp chia seeds
Cherries (as many as you'd like, fresh or frozen)
Extra cinnamon, banana and chia to top
Directions;
Mash banana until mushy and as few lumps as possible
Add milk, vanilla, and cinnamon and stir until combined.
Add oats and chia seeds. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
In the morning, plate and top to your heart's content!
