Cinnamon Chia Overnight Oats with Fresh Cherries


Farmer's market make #5!


I always used to add the tiniest bit of brown sugar to my oatmeal. This time we took a really ripe banana, mashed it up, and used that as our sweetener. It was perfect and no added sugar necessary!


And yes, getting the seed out of the 🍒 was a labor of love, but worth it watching the kids enjoy this deliciously nutrient-dense farmer’s market find!

Ingredients:

  • 1 very ripe banana

  • 1 cup milk (regular or non-dairy. We used plain soy)

  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract

  • 1 Tbsp cinnamon (more or less to taste)

  • 1/2 cup oats (gluten-free if needed)

  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds

  • Cherries (as many as you'd like, fresh or frozen)

  • Extra cinnamon, banana and chia to top

Directions;

  • Mash banana until mushy and as few lumps as possible

  • Add milk, vanilla, and cinnamon and stir until combined.

  • Add oats and chia seeds. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

  • In the morning, plate and top to your heart's content!
