Citrus Beet Dragon Fruit Smoothie

leighannewooten

This smoothie might need to be renamed the Sweet and Sassy, I'm still debating!

While it has just the right amount of natural sweetness, it also gets a zesty kick from the ginger. It's like a flavor grenade in your mouth!

This beauty gets its gorgeous ruby hue from the dragon fruit and beets. And what does that vibrant color tell us, class? That's right, lots of nutrients! We usually add a handful of spinach, because why not?! But I will admit the beautiful red color does turn a bit brown though still tastes exactly the same!

If you're not a fan of beets, just leave 'em out. Like beets? Add more! Make this smoothie yours and enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup water

  • 1 orange, zest plus meat

  • 5g fresh ginger, peeled (about the size of your thumb)

  • 1/4 cup beet, roasted (about 1/2 beet) If you have extra beets, try these fluffy pink beet pancakes!

  • 1/2 cup frozen dragon fruit

  • 1 tsp chia seeds

Directions:

  • Add all ingredients in the order listed to a high speed blender and blend for 1 minute until completely smooth,
